Eddy was a cat that I was privileged to care for. He was my soul mate, he always sat with me at my desk as I made music, usually laying under the speaker! He passed in January which was when I made this song. It was the last song he heard me make and he really loved it. I knew he was sick and on borrowed time, so as I worked on the track, I kept thinking of him and his incredible qualities, he had more humanity in him than most people. He was sensitive, always cared for me, my daughter and Timmy, his little brother, and one expression of that care was being a fearless warrior. If he felt threatened by other animals or people he would attack them! I’d seen him take down dogs three times his size. He was quite yoda like… a compassionate wise pacifist who was ready to be a warrior when needed, and this is the energy I was working to convey in the song. Eddy really loved this song too. The arpeggiated bass would make his ears twitch with delight as he purred under the speaker. Musically this song was derived from the main piano riff from “Dhyana” from Yin.
